They are rightly concerned where signals etc obscure the CCTV view of the crossing. However this seemed to be focused on where the view of the area within the gates but clear of the running lines was blocked. Elsewhere there was a picture of a crossing where a person and possibly a small vehicle actually *on* the running line would be hidden behind the road traffic signals - which is surely more of a hazard?

Yeah, while I get why Ireland closes a rectangular piece of road to traffic rather than placing the barriers at the boundary of the railway line as in MCB crossings in the UK, it does make supervision more difficult.
