Work at Morar half barriers was suspended Tuesday when a lorryload of bitumen for the road surface caught fire. It was driven flaming to a safe place by a petrol station and primary school. The existing crossing arrangements, luckily, are not yet dismantled.

Eh ?? By a petrol station doesn't sound a very safe place for a burning vehicle to me.

My informant thought likewise. It was believed that they relied on the garage having plenty of extinguishers and a good water supply regardless of other considerations. It was at least brave to drive the lorry away from such things as the station buildings. It ill doubtless be fully reported in Westword - their editorial office is in Morar station.
