I understand that for many years the vehicular level crossing at Stone Crossing has been closed more or less since privatisation, although the level crossing gates have remained in situ. It would seem that Network Rail want to re-enforce the closure by erecting a very high palisade fence in front the gates. Looks like a bit of an overkill perhaps or is there a genuine reason behind this? The station platforms are open and adjacent and pedestrians are able to cross when the ticket office is manned.
