I am modelling Glasgow Central and its various lines in the early 60s.

I am now trying to understand the signalling arrangements between Arkleston and Cardonald Junctions.

John kindly put these two diagrams on the web site yesterday after an enquiry to him. He also included Penilee which was between the two junctions and was decommissioned in 1931.

However, these are well before the 1962 era that I am modelling.

By that time (and are still there) two stations Hillington (West) and Hillington (East) had been built between the two junctions on the slow lines of a four track system. Photographs and maps show that there were extra signals added after John's diagrams to cater for these stations, but no new signal box.

I am assuming that the extra signals allowed a train to be stopped at each station on the same line at the same time.

Was each station controlled by the nearest Junction box? And if so where were the distants and starters and any other signals placed relative to the stations?
