Bell Lane was about 1.5 miles north of Leicester on the Up side.

Thanks again for all the info. I've found this 1979 picture:

I note that this box also sits on an embankment. The rear landing at the top of the stairs can just be seen, so the one on my model is the reverse way round.

I'll need to redo the windows of the model, I think - the glazing bars across the windows are rather oversize, as well as the sections of glazing not overlapping as in real life. And thin down the finials a bit as well!

If you're modifying it to represent your favourite box, don't forget to add that "facilities" extension which fortunately collapsed!

No - I'm probably going to use it on my own layout 'as is' except for the finials and windows. There is another Hornby model with the more usual end stair which would be more amenable to using two in 'cut and stick' mode to reproduce St A South. As for the extension, I'll think about that!
