Er no you only see red after seeing green.

But seriously where is (was) that and how did they get away with it?

Reminds me of getting called out to a signal that i had restricted to red but had been passed because it was yellow. The power station staff were looking for thing's to paint during the summer shut down. My rusty signal attracted their attention. It got painted yellow top to bottom.

Definitely is an "is" and not a "was".

I'd guess a swing bridge somewhere. For no good reason I'm thinking Ireland.

Ah yes, of course! Blue levers for the river signals!

I didn't intend to make this a quiz but seeing you are enjoying yourselves guessing I'll keep Mum for a while . . .

But not a river bridge.

Well it looks southern due to a juice rail being apparent outside and the Westinghouse lever locks behind the levers. The frame looks to be a S & F duplex, could this be Wateringbury?

I hope they are L locks, otherwise they have been painted the wrong colour…

Wateringbury had 9 levers remaining and also a bit more of a rural outlook, Charlton Lane crossing seems a more likely location.

And you, sir, have won first prize of a pat on the back.

You will understand my smiling at the thought of an Irish connection when it is in fact (unless you know better, as they say) the nearest operational mechanical frame to the centre of London.

Best regards,

John

Thanks – there aren’t many type 12s left to choose from (also Robertsbridge, Rye, Sturry?), but they are probably more of this type remaining in use on the southern now than anything else.

Also available in black . . .

A little nearer to home than I thought at first glance. First prize for identification this time is an eight hour shift at this location. On Christmas Eve.

If you can't stand the pain of not knowing you can work out where it is (as indeed you could have done with the last one) by right-clicking on the image for the image name.

Last time I looked (about 1995?) there was (still is?) a frame something like this in Westwood yard. Peterborough, working all the points to the individual roads, which in the vast majority of other locations would be handpoints.
But, on the other hand, at that time anyway, it had no shelter, and was 9 levers (I think), one of which was white (Spare).
So that's unlikely to be the one in this photo. :(

I could say 'me too' FLF.
Still, it's made for interesting 'debate'.

P.S. Have I missed it, or has there been no mention of a reason for all that 'Blue' at Charlton Lane?
