Can anybody help with a closure date for Vauxhall Shunt Frame, Birmingham - the former 100-lever signal box reduced in status with the resignalling in 1966?

I think it is technically still open, the frame is still at the right hand end of the box, separated off from the Aston panel by a wall and door.

Ah, that would explain why I can't find a closure date . . .

Thanks!

It had disappeared from the sectional appendix by 2003, but there are photos on line dated 2014 with the nameboard still present. I would imagine it effectively closed when the sidings at Curzon St were disconnected to put in the new connection outside the flyover at Proof House - there is a members only copy of the resignalling notice on the s-r-s website which may throw some light?.

The aforementioned notice SA/07/MZ does indeed state "Vauxhall Shunt Frame will be abolished", the notice being operative from 29 Aug 2000.

The current resignalling plan for the area (part of the New Street resignalling) still shows part of the Vauxhall shunt frame area in green to be removed which apart from the name board on the south end of Aston SSC and the fact that the frame is still in the box was what I had based my statement on.

Its fine by me. I was looking for a closure date for the whole building and had completely forgotten Aston was housed in the same structure. In fact I think I was confusing it with Curzon Street . . .
