Lever 25 - where?

Unread postby John Hinson » Mon Oct 23, 2017 12:01 pm

Whist rummaging through a cabinet of slides to be scanned, I found this. Clearly of BR(WR) origin, it isn't from a location I recognise - but it could be quite old as it has been recycled (I haven't seen this done with WR plates before) and the figure 6 has been engraved on the back - presumably for a spare lever. There is no reason to assume both functions were in the same box as I would expect the badge to have gone back to works for re-engraving.

Any thoughts?

The 6 with no underline does nit look like Reading work. It was probably re-engraved locally for the spare. Lots of nameplate shops have the identical engraving characters. If one went back to Reading in my time, it would have gone straight in the scrap bin and a new 6 done for the spare.
