Did the RSCo have a standard design for (say) the L&Y? I ask because I've seen an L&Y box specified for an Irish railway, and the RSCo were the contractors.

When the RSCo was first established (effectively out of the GWCo's signalling department - although that continued briefly in its own right), it was the signalling department of the L&Y (in much the same way as S&F were the signalling department of the LBSCR for a long period). When the L&Y subsequently took its signalling department in-house it more or less continued to use RSCo designs (with one real oddity in that one of the standard signal box lengths was changed slightly).

RSCo boxes were pretty much of a likeness no matter who they were supplied to although no doubt they would do specials if requested (Mersey Railway perhaps).
As such, for RSCo to specify an L&Y box seems a bit odd. Tell us more about he contract.
