Hello,
Has anyone any basic info on the above ex-Rhymney Railway box near Caerphilly please?
Just the opening date, lever info and closure date would be ideal.
Many thanks,
Nick.

Hi Nick
The only details I have is
Mc Kenzie&Holland frame of 30 levers I don't have an opening date but the box closed 20/9/1967.
The box did have a block switch so it could switch out.

Hope this helps.

Maybe it would be better to refer to the source of this information - the SRS Signal Box Register, purchasable at https://www.s-r-s.org.uk/bookregister.php , rather than just quoting from what is obviously a copyright publication. The series is a great resource and purchasable cheaply on CD-ROM.

Thanks Lampman. That's just what I need.
Thanks also John. I appreciate your suggestion, but I wasn't after a nuts and bolts treatise on the subject - just a thumbnail description of the box as a caption inclusion describing a South Wales mineral train on its way to the McLaren Colliery at Abertysswg. I will obviously credit source info and if I find I have similar questions then I will consider purchasing the said CD-ROM(s).
Cheers,
Nick.

Fair enough - but the information you gave was exactly as published by the SRS - not a detail more and not a detail less! Quite a coincidence.

One would imagine that details published in the signal box register and in other published sources/personal records would often have a common source (s). Having said that the SRS register is a great reference that is deserving of support.
