Where to keep photos - any recommendations?

Unread postby John Webb » Sun Jul 18, 2010 11:00 am

Any of you who've been following the threads on St Albans South will be aware that I'm having some problems with about 20% of my pictures, currently stored on Photobox, disappearing because for some reason the URL has changed between posting a picture and looking again at the post it's in.

I wonder if anyone has any recommendations for particular sites (other than Photobox) which they've found to be 'well-behaved', as you might say! (I prefer to have a site from which I can use URLs in IMG statements rather than sending people off to another site.)

I suspect they keep changing their URLs because sites like that are not really designed for access from other web pages.

Firstly, I would check to see if your ISP provides web space for you. Many do, but few shout about it.

Otherwise, you might like to look through http://www.free-webhosts.com/ for a wide choice.

This response is not intended to discourage others from giving their personal recommendations of course.

I don't have wide experience to make comparisons but, up to now, I don't seem to have had any problem with www.photobucket.com.

I'll also put in a good word for photobucket; lots of room on the free account.
ND: Why is there a door handle on the inside of my airing cupboard?
MF: Because it's the fire exit from Narnia.

I like David Lynch films. I don't consider incomprehension to be a barrier to enjoyment.

So long as you keep secure backups on disks, sticks or whatever.
