This is now working. The new version of forum software includes the now-common "Captcha" system which, quite frankly, is a system that drives me crazy so I apologise to any new members that find it the same but hopefully it will keep those irritating spammers away. We haven't suffered many but the numbers have increased recently - probably because they are desperate to find systems that don't use Captcha!

Thank you for all the effort you put into the forum, it is much appreciated.

From a little research it seems that all four types of lettering offered to me in this system (including one I can hardly read) have been cracked by the "spambots" so that "security feature" is a complete and utter waste of time.

Well . . . yes and no.
You and others think me a magician but I can only really implement third-party templates (building my own would take weeks) so have little control over features. In truth I have tested about ten different ones and rejected almost all as not being suitable for our needs for one reason or another. But as it happens, the one I have chosen and am testing at the moment has a lot of nice features, including a row of tabs along the top which includes "View New Posts".
