JRB points out that we aren't limited to one get-together a year. I understand St Albans has some good pubs to chose from, including a few not far from St Albans South and the City railway station.........

...... & the walk from Abbey station can assist in building a thirst.

Looks like a summer meeting at St Albans is required.

I've checked our visiting parties list and at the moment we are fairly quiet in June and July.
I assume a Saturday meeting as with the 31st Jan?
If anyone wishes to suggest a date, I'll see if we can accommodate you.

I was wondering about looking into the practicality of using Chiltern for a change.

At the risk of being incendiary, I think Chiltern might be the best bet from London since the Western and London Midland routes seem to be suffering performance-wise recently to a greater degree than Chiltern. Not sure yet, but I may be on the 09.06 ex MB too.

John Webb. To avoid confusion/complication lets leave discussing a St Albans visit until after we've been to Kidderminster. Its only three weeks away anyway then we can start a new thread.

It's cheaper for anyone paying fares and the 168s are comfortable and the Mk.3s even more so.

I tried going via Marylebone but the price jumped to £78 return.

You might find it cheaper to split your journey, if you are going via London. There is a super off-peak return MYB- KID for £29 (via Wycombe only).

I am sorry to report that detailed arrangements for an important family event are now shaping up in a way which may, after all, prevent my attending Kidderminster on this occasion.
