For anyone wondering it is understood that Swindon PSB finally closed completely at 01:10hrs today, 20-Feb-2016, after just shy of 48 years' service.

The last area controlled by Swindon panel was signed back into use 0200 with TVSC this morning. The panel I am informed has been removed from the former operating floor.

The Swindon Panel Society would be running over a month ahead of schedule if so! As well-coordinated as they are, I think that might be a bit beyond even their abilities.

We've removed the most vulnerable parts (the tiles) from the panel for safe keeping. Next stage is to remove the panel structure itself from the building, crane it on to a lorry and move it to Didcot West Yard. From there it will travel by rail into Didcot Railway Centre. This will all happen, fingers crossed, on Saturday 2nd April!
If you are a structural engineer, or you know of one, we've very much like to hear from you. Also, if you have any experience of removing or fitting uPVC doors and windows we'd also like to hear from you.

I heard Danny Scroggins being interviewed on BBC Radio Wilts on Sunday. I think Swindon Panel is mentioned in this programme:-

( ...... Just f'rinfo., many recent news posts (since March 13, 2016) about the Swindon panel can be found elsewhere, forming the following topic, titled "Swindon Panel - Moving Home" in the "Signalling - heritage railways" section of this Forum :

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7517 .

Perhaps the move of the panel to its new, preservation, home, now makes the subject firmly historical. :) )

Quite right, Steve. Swindon Panel in its new life is indeed Heritage. Further posts should go on the other thread, and this one is now locked.
