Norwich - Lowestoft / Great Yarmouth resignalling

Current and future British signalling (UK except Northern Ireland)

Very fair point. I suppose my concern is the way the message is put across. In an interview a while back, Mark Carne was quoted as saying the digital railway would 'dramatically improve safety'. To the layperson or member of the public, that makes it sound as if the railway isn't very safe at present. However, I appreciate I am now well off topic.

One thing this scheme will do is see off one of the largest remaining concentrations of wire-pulled distant signals - about 12 by my reckoning.

Are there any changes to the signalling?

Looks like I was right. Only seven points are now needed at Yarmouth. The picture in the gazette failed to show crossover 20 opposite the signal cabin that's all . Some photos taken of the revised layout taken from from the bypass would be nice ( Not sure if there is a footpath up there ? ) Nice to see the release crossover has been retained! However the points leading into the carriage sidings are clipped & padlocked OOU and the signals fixed at danger . I am not surprised at this I remember reading somewhere a few years ago that a freight terminal might be built there just have to wait and see.

A fine example of a badly misleading diagram which should never have got past the eyes of the Ministry. It is quite important to signalmen when dealing with emergencies to know when lines are adjacent and when they are not.

In my time there were many cases where the signals on the Up & down lines were not shown in their correct relative positions on SBDs, panels and monitors. I managed to get a few corrected, but "Don't be fussy, it doesn't matter".

It mattered at Gerrards Cross, after the accident.

And the RAIB has also covered the issue of discrepancies between displays and reality in recent memory: link.

Where will the new signalling for this scheme be controlled from?

Are intermediate level crossings affected under this scheme? I'm thinking of Lingwood in particular, and its unique Hodgson's Distant Control.
