Bradford Exchange AWS in platform tracks.

A few years ago a visit to the station I was surprised at the decending gradiant the terminal station is situated on. Half way between the bufferstops and platform starting signals each platform line has a Suppressor magnet installed .Whats its purpose? In front of the starting signals approx. level each signal has what may be a suppressor aws magnet. Could it be some sort of monitoring the inbound train speed to give a warning if overspeed?

I'm thinking SPAD magnets. Suppressed for wrong direction moves and if the signal is clear.

That's a good suggestion for the suppressors adjacent the starting signals . What purpose would the suppressor AWS s half way from the buffer stops to the platform starting signals uphill gradiant?

Purely a guess, but something similar for approaching the buffers?

Could those magnets perhaps just be the ordinary AWS for the platform starters, suppressed for moves towards the buffers?

Not sure whether the starter from a terminal platform is usually AWS-fitted though.

Its certainly not a requirement of terminus stations but you never Know! Never say never! I will send a photo of the platform magnets shortly

I think that in the days of (some) loco-hauled trains it wasn't unusual for the loco that had brought the stock in to bank the train out again although I can't remember how far. Does that have something to do with these magnets?
