Can anyone let me know how the stencils used behind miniature arms are made up please? I am thinking a white translucent material behind the black glass but confirmation would be good.

White translucent glass with a metal stencil behind. I have made some with white translucent perspex, masked the required letter and then sprayed with black paint. Remove the masking tape while the paint is still soft.

There's a couple out there on the big railway with the letter printed on overhead projector film and sandwiched between the layers of opaque and ordinary glass.
