Fabricated locking trays for Stevens frames

Unread postby Chris Osment » Thu Nov 23, 2017 4:33 pm

The photo here shows part of the fabricated locking ‘trays’ on the Stevens frame (formerly at Banksome) now in the new signal-box at Midsomer Norton. IMHO there are similarities with the design of fabricated ‘trays’ fitted to the ex-Barnstaple Jcn ‘A’ frame now in the box at Ropley. I gather that the Midsomer Norton example was inspired by similar locking previously fitted to that frame when at Branksome when apparently that box was re-locked by BR(S) in the late 1960s.

So what can anyone tell me about the origins of this design please, and were there any other examples installed?
