BR(SR) Track-Circuit identity rules

Unread postby Chris Osment » Thu Dec 14, 2017 4:35 pm

Imagine a BR(SR) location in the 1950s with (say) 7 separate track-circuits, identified as A-G.

As part of some layout alterations, two things happen:-
1. A TC - let's assume TC 'E' - is abolished, and
2. A new TC is provided elsewhere in the layout.

Might the letter 'E' be re-used for the new TC, or would the new one become TC 'H' to ensure no possible future confusion in the records between the 'old' E and the new 'E' ?

If the two changes are made at the same time then a new letter would be used if not it doesn't matter one way or the other.
