Another unidentified photograph

Whilst searching for the GE Staff and Ticket block picture for another thread, I decided it was time to scan all contained in that box, which was basically signalling photographs that couldn't be attributed to a specific location for my geographical filing system.

Amongst them was this lone picture, inscribed "foreign" which isn't a lot of help! I suspect I took it on an early foray into Europe in the seventies.

Its not a special picture but it would be nice to identify it - ideas anyone?

Don't think there is much doubt about the accuracy of the description "Foreign"! Probably doesn't help much, but the OHLE looks French to me, as do the signals. I would expect to see a big "Nf" sign on most running signals in a station, perhaps you can see the signs more clearly on the original photo than I can see.

Yes indeed - there is an Nf plate under the Z on the signal to the right.

That nearest coach looks a bit like and SNCF 'Corail' vehicle, which (I think) would place the visit in the early 80s.

I can't make out the OHLE insulators that clearly, but I think they're 25kV (they seem rather longer than they are wide). The gantry doesn't look overly heavy either. That might help narrow it further.

It could be 1980 or just 1981, but my pictures from 1981 onwards are date-stamped by the developers (and this isn't), if that is any help.

I have posed the question on the forums of LR Presse, one of the regulars there will know where it is.

Paris Gare de Lyon postes I/II shortly before the inauguration of the first sections of the LGV Sud-est which happened on 22 September 1981.

Thank you, David. That fits perfectly, as I remember a trip which involved a coach transfer between stations in Paris. Presumably I just snapped that and boarded.
