Lowdham Signal Box

Lowdham Signal Box is no more.
At 23.11 on Friday 30th September 2016 2L90 the 22.26 Lincoln Central - Nottingham service departed Lowdham on time. Lowdham sent train out of section to Fiskerton Junction and it's last train had been signalled after 120 years.
At 00.36 on Saturday 1st October the box was signed out of use.
At or around 02.13 the signaller advised me via text that he had sent 7 5 5 via telephone to Fisko Junction and advised the EMCC that he was vacating the box and he signed off duty.

and the BBC East Midlands Today report of 30th September covering the closure..........

coverage starts about 12 mins and 30 seconds in.

I was privileged to work the last three early shifts at Lowdham. Best wishes to all the signalmen who are moving on to other locations/careers or enjoying retirement. Also a big thank you to those men and women who have kept trains running there over the last 120 years.

I am hoping to preserve Lowdham box on a bit of land at the other end of the station. See https://www.facebook.com/lowdhamsignalbox/
