Allerton junction No.5 signal

Unread postby Mike Stone » Fri Oct 6, 2017 9:50 am

Allerton no.5 signal has been moved nearer to Allerton East Junction to allow the temporary extension of platform 4 at Liverpool South Parkway to accommodate Pendolino.s. It is reported to now be a fixed red - previously it had a route to the up and down Allerton goods (which I thought was shown out of use, but is not shown as such in the Appendix) this may of course have been controlled by a subsidiary signal?
I seem to recall one of the chord lines was spiked, clipped and padlocked but the other just had point clips on.

One line has been cut out now. I guess the fixed red will be there until the Resignalling commences and then it will be put back in place. Can't recall anything using that line since Allerton originally shut as a maintenance depot when the Garston based 08 would have needed a service.
